Christian Walker scored a double with three runs in the eighth inning and the Arizona Diamondbacks broke out of their offensive funk to overtake the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-3 on Friday night.

The Diamondbacks worked their way through the first seven innings and managed a run with five goals.

With a 3-2 deficit in the eighth game, Arizona loaded the bases against Blake Treinen (0-1) and Walker prevailed shortly after midfielder Mookie Betts' outdated glove. David Peralta followed with a single with runscoring to 5: 3.

Hector Rondon (1-0) scored a goal in the eighth win against Arizona. Archie Bradley went for a batsman and made a double on betts in ninth before Cody Bellinger came out in three chances for the second time.

Betts hit his first Homer with the Dodgers, had three goals, drove in two runs and made a sensational, long throw for an out in third place. Corey Seager scored for the third time in a row.

Betts signed one of the richest contracts in baseball history and agreed to a $ 365 million 12-year contract on the eve of the opening day.

The 27-year-old had a slow start in his first season in Los Angeles and went into the game on Friday with a double .206.

Betts had an immediate impact on Friday night and spontaneously threw himself from deep in the right corner of the field to third base to get Ketel Marte, who tried to double in the first inning.

Betts hit his first Homer with the Dodgers in the fourth inning, a towering solo shot right in the foul bar on the left. He added a runscoring single to take the Dodgers 2-0 up in the fifth.

Kole Calhoun scored a runscoring double in the fifth inning to pull the diamondbacks 2-1, but Gonzalez worked out of a traffic jam to limit the damage.

Seager met a long solo Homer in the eighth inning ahead of Kevin Ginkel to give Los Angeles a 3-2 lead.

Dodgers: LHP Clayton Kershaw is expected to make his season debut against Arizona on Sunday. He was supposed to be the opening starter of the Dodgers, but was scratched because of the back stiffness. His return urges Walker Buehler's next scheduled start on Monday.

Diamondbacks: SS Nick Ahmed was out of the lineup for a day off after opening season two for 24. In the seventh inning, he was a pinch hitter.

Dodgers: LHP Julio Urias will start Saturday's game against Arizona after giving up a run and five goals in five innings without a decision against San Francisco last Sunday.

Diamondbacks: RHP Luke Weaver will try to recover against the Dodgers after giving up six runs in 3 1/3 innings against San Diego on his 2020 debut.
