After 20 years and 14 years (seriously), E! Network Reality Juggernaut and a full pop culture landmark Keeping Up with the Kardashians ends with the final season airing in 2021. Depending on how you feel about the Kardashian clan, this is either evidence that 2020 is trying to unite our spirits to kill for all time, or a welcome light at the end of a tunnel of misery where reality TV stars literally rule the world.

In a statement addressed to the show's great fans, signed by Kris, Kourtney, Kim, Khloé, Rob, Kendall, Kylie and Scott, it said, “It is with a heavy heart that we as a family made the difficult decision to do this to say goodbye, keep up with the Kardashians. … We will cherish forever the wonderful memories and countless people we met along the way. In a statement to Variety, E! said: "Although it was an absolute privilege and we will miss them wholeheartedly, we respect the family's decision to live their lives without our cameras. It is not our final farewell yet, we are excited to see the new season of "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" starts on September 17th and the final season will air in 2021. "

Shortly after the announcement, Khloé tweeted that the "Emotions are flowing today," and it seems fans of the show can relate to it. "I stepped out of a zoom with Paris Hilton to learn that 'Keep Up With The Kardashians' is being canceled and I'm feeling emotionally driving," tweeted Amy Kaufman, author of the L.A. Times. "Keeping up with the Kardashians has been canceled when we can find PEACE in 2020," tweeted PopBuzz editor Sophie Thompson.

Some fans looking for a family member to be responsible for the breakup of the franchise are watching Kourtney directly, who confirmed in July that she would quit the show. "I felt unfulfilled and it became a toxic environment for me to continue to claim as much of my life as it was," she told Vogue Arabia earlier this month. She is now called Zayn Malik of the Crew (I'll let you google the reference for yourself).

The show may have cemented the family's place in the pop culture pantheon, but the TV show or none, Matriarch Kris' passion for branding and its ubiquity, from social media channels to cosmetic counters, is becoming keep them in our consciousness for years to come – like it or not.
