LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) – The Los Angeles Rams start their season on Sunday with a matchup against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday evening. Before the season began, it emerged that the Rams had one last business to do: locking up cornerback Jalen Ramsey with a long-term extension.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Rams removed this from the list on Wednesday with a new $ 105 million extension for five years that includes a new record amount of guaranteed money for a corner.
Jalen Ramsey is the first defender in NFL history to sign a deal worth over $ 100 million. His $ 71.2 million on signing is a defense attorney's greatest guarantee. The Rams get their playmaker in the backend and Ramsey gets his payday. https://t.co/HRzzqot7De

The Rams acquired Ramsey from the Jacksonville Jaguars last October in exchange for a pair of picks for the first round and a pick for the fourth round. With such a deal, a contract extension for the 25-year-old corner was inevitable.
Ramsey only saw an interception after the trade but offered solid cover on Aqib Talib and Troy Hill. He starts this season with high expectations as Talib is now gone and the Rams only have four corners on the squad. The Rams will open their season with a rematch against the Cowboys on Sunday, September 13th, kicking off at 5:20 pm. PST.
